Ole Hitchin’ Post In Larwill Has New OwnersLARWILL - Kosciusko and Whitley chambers of commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday for Ole Hitchin' Post, 109 Center St., Larwill.
The season for outdoor dining started April 1, which ends the last weekend of October.
Owner Krissy Ropp purchased Ole Hitchin' Post, 109 Center St., in January 2021. She said she and her husband Jay were on a Razor ride one night and were at a gas station filling up when the previous owner of Ole Hitchin’ Post came out and looked at their Razor. Ropp said she had a pipe dream of owning a bakery. She asked the previous owner who owned two empty buildings in the area. He then asked why they didn’t buy the Ole Hitchin’ Post, noting it wasn’t up for sale but would be for the right people.
“It just seemed like a really exciting opportunity to work for ourselves, work for our family and make some investment in our tiny little community here,” she said.
Since they bought it, Ropp said the inside dining area has been remodeled and some storage space was added on and the kitchen was expanded.
Also, from May to August, Ropp said she tries to have live music at the restaurant at least once a week and at least three weekends of every month.
Ropp said some things were taken down from the previous ownership, but “we want to maintain the integrity of what it was with the western theme, but we want to infuse a little bit of who we are. So I would say our goal is to represent the things that are most important to us, which are God, our family and our country.”
She said the goal for the restaurant is to be able to have people, no matter who they are, be able to eat at the restaurant and enjoy their time there.
Ropp said Ole Hitchin' Post offers all kinds of different hot dogs, chicken, tenderloins, hamburgers, macaroni and coleslaw.
“We just try to do super fresh stuff with big portions,” she said.
A new menu will be available starting next week and will give customers more opportunities, she said.
Hours are Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
