Editor, Times-Union: As of late there has been a lot of focus on the legal system in this country, and in particular the police force. So let us take a condensed look at the political law system in the United States. First of all, we have to understand that the United States does not have peace officers, it has police officers. The word police comes from the same Latin root as politics. A police officer enforces the laws of the state (political law). On the other hand, a peace officer keeps the peace. A peace officer enforces the two fundamental laws (natural laws) that make civilization possible. They fight encroachment (do not infringe upon other persons or their property) and fraud (do all you have agreed to do), in other words – they protect us. However, in the United States a police officer does whatever politicians tell them – political law (politics – they protect the interest of the state – profiteers), not the interest of the people – even if this means breaking the peace and encroaching upon others. In short, people who are free have peace officers, and people who are not free have police officers. A societies, or better yet, a person’s well-being is dependent on its legal, or political system, and the ills of a society are just the symptoms of this system – the cause of these symptoms are its political laws, and the police officers who enforce them. In a peaceful society as long as you are not violating anyone’s rights, encroaching upon anyone, or as long as there is not a victim – there should be no reason to be infringed upon by an officer. However, in the United States millions upon millions of people have been arrested by police officers and thrown into cages without a victim ever claiming damages (victimless crimes). Why? Because of the self-serving moneyed interest of the rulers and their political laws. The United States has the highest prison population rate in the world. Presently, 756 per 100,000 of the national population is behind bars. In other words, the U.S. incarcerates its citizens at a rate that is five times the world average. Roughly 34 percent of all prisoners in the United States are incarcerated for victimless crimes, in other words – they have not encroached upon anyone. You see – police officers serve and protect the self-serving moneyed interest of the political leaders – the rulers, not the people. Why should a person be infringed upon by an officer as long as they are not encroaching upon the rights of another? Because we do not have peace officers in the United States, we have police officers enforcing the political laws of self-serving rulers. The privately owned prison industry complex is one of the fastest-growing industries in the United States. This multimillion-dollar industry has its own trade exhibitions, conventions, websites and mail-order/Internet catalogs. The police force in the United States is a private political army.
