SYRACUSE – Norma L. Gerber, 77, of Syracuse, died at 12:57 a.m. April 28, 2013, in her daughter’s residence in Bristol.
She was born Jan. 21, 1936, in Bluffton, to Chauncey Kenneth “C.K.” and Cleeda E. Schafer Reid. On Jan. 1, 1956, in Bluffton, she married John C. “Jack” Schacht Sr., who died June 3, 1980. On Feb. 14, 1987, in Syracuse, she married Gerald L. “Gary” Gerber, who died Oct. 28, 2005.
She graduated from Bluffton High School in 1953 and attended Lake Forest College, Lake Forest, Ill., and Ball State University, Muncie. She moved to Syracuse from Bluffton in 1960.
She was a homemaker; former co-owner of Schacht Rubber Products and Gerber Networking, both in Syracuse; and worked in the library at Wawasee High School. She was a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, Syracuse, and a former member of  Tri Kappa, Bluffton.
Surviving are three daughters: Cynthia (and spouse Stan) Anderson, Stafford, Mo.; Susan (and spouse Ted) Hege, Bristol; and LeeAnn (and spouse Brad “Bud”) Roby,   Syracuse; a son, John Schacht Jr., Syracuse; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister,  Romanel (and spouse Joe) Biberstine, Laporte. She also was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, with Pastor Mark Eastway officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mount Hope Cemetery, Huntington.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
