I don't know what the mission statement of the county highway department is. It clearly isn't to make roads safe for travel after a snow or ice event. I see county trucks traveling the roads when there is no snow or ice, but so far, rarely when there is.
Elkhart County makes a sincere effort to clear the roads and spread salt and/or sand. We would certainly appreciate our county attempting to give us safer road conditions.
