No Injuries Reported In Thursday CrashNo one was hurt in a crash that sent a van into a ditch full of water on North Detroit Street Thursday morning.
Warsaw police responded at 6:20 a.m. Thursday to the intersection of Ind. 15 and the U.S. 30 westbound exit ramp and found a van in a ditch full of water and a pickup truck with front-end damage.
According to the crash report, Carlos Cabrera, 41, of East Market Street, Warsaw, was driving a gray 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan north on Ind. 15 and was waiting to turn on to the U.S. 30 westbound ramp to head toward Plymouth.
Cabrera told police a vehicle heading south on Ind. 15 also was going to turn onto the ramp and yielded for him to turn, so Cabrera turned. However, that vehicle, a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by Benjamin R. Sweeny, 38, of East Woodland Court, Leesburg, didn’t end up yielding and went straight instead.
The vehicles collided as the van drove across Ind. 15 to exit, causing the van to roll into a ditch containing water.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene, and estimated damage is between $10,000 and $25,000.
