LEESBURG – There were no injuries due to a fire at a Leesburg two-story house Monday.
Plain Township Fire Department responded to a call at 9:09 a.m. at 3929 E. Oldfield Drive, Leesburg. According to government records, the property is owned by John W. Anglin.
Upon arrival to the scene, responders found the fire was at the back of the structure coming out of the basement, according to Assistant Fire Chief Jared Haughee. There was fire damage to the first and second stories and to some of the exterior of the house.
Haughee said the fire department was told there were occupants in the residence during the fire, but when the department arrived on scene, they found it was unoccupied. Haughee also said a family dog got of the house safely.
The cause of the fire is unknown and is still under investigation. Damage is estimated at $50,000 to $75,000.
Plain Township was on the scene for about 2-1/2 hours.
Plain Township was assisted by the North Webster, Milford and Warsaw fire departments and Lutheran EMS.
