No Argument

Posted
Editor, Times-Union,

OK, Anthony, I have to leave you a list of everything wrong with your last letter:

1. Calling me a "padawan," linking me to a wise warrior and you're my master - not even close. Typical Democrat name calling is a sure sign when you no longer have an argument.

2. You do not like Sarah Palin - we get it. What's your point? On a side note: http://www.suntimes.com/news/elections/rnc/114585,college090408.article This is not a Wikipedia site and I still proved you wrong.

3. You also do not like Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh. Fine, we get that, too. Again, what is your point? Since you hold President Obama on a high pedestal - tell us all of the of the campaign promises that he's kept. Since you like the idea of socialized health care - tell us all the great things any of these health care bills will do for America. That would at least be an interesting letter if it were possible.

4. Glenn Beck averages 250,000 more listeners to a show that has not made a new episode in two years. Again, what is your point?

5. Fox News argued that the media has the right to report misinformation. Again, who cares? Also, if Fox News is the only outlet that reports misinformation, does that mean everything that Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow and Joy Behar says is the gospel? Keith Olbermann used "The View" to back up a point. What self-respecting man watches that show, let alone use it as a credible source in an argument? Although I must thank you, Anthony, the fact that the media was allowed to report about that wonderful health care bill and global warming.

6. Why are you griping about a national figure to a local paper? To talk about Sarah Palin without giving her the chance to defend herself again makes no sense. Same with Joe Lieberman. Who here locally cares about how Joe Lieberman votes on issues? Now if you would have written your letter to a Connecticut paper, then you'd have a chance to have a discussion with someone at least about Joe Lieberman.

7. You said in your Dec. 14 letter that "silence equates to approval," if that flows both ways, more people agree with me. Because the only people that disagree with me are you and Janet Collins. How many people have written in against you? I stopped counting after 15. So more people are silent and approve of what I say than are vocal and disagree with you. If you truly want my silence - how about you and Janet Collins stop writing or at least write a letter that I agree with - although that is unlikely, it can be wishful thinking.

8. This is just a tip for you, Anthony and Janet. How about you use the local paper to discuss local issues. I am sure that there are plenty of local things that you have an opinion about - and make sure you make a point and do not act like you state fact.
