No Apologies

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:
Mr. Gerard, in your "News Views" column in the 8/1 & 2 edition of the Times-Union you asked the question, “Where does it end?” The question was in relation to everyone that is offended about something today.
There isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t see someone either offering an apology for something that was said or someone demanding an apology for something that was said. The thought/political correct police as patrolling like never before.   People need to grow up and develop a thick skin. All of this nonsense is beyond ridiculous.
The lefties believe in “free speech” as long as it agrees with them. When will it end? When this group (lefties) finally silence all those it disagrees with. Our forefathers would turn over in their grave if they could see how the right of free speech has been totally bastardized.
As for the Confederate flag, the actions by most (including politicians) concerning it was nothing more than a feel-good thing. Dylann Roof didn’t kill nine innocent black worshippers because of a flag. He killed them because of the hate in his heart. Removing a flag will do nothing to remove hatred in someone’s heart. One must realize that hatred of my fellow man is wrong and such action has to be changed. [The Bible has something to say about that.
