Negativity

Editor, Times-Union:

I have to say, Mr. Eppenbaugh, although it makes for great reading, I am a little disappointed in the letter you received. Although I do appreciate the support and awareness of my opinion, I do not agree with the negative personal attack or assumption that a person is not entitled to their own thoughts and ideas due to a living situation. We are blessed as American citizens to have the privilege to voice our opinions in a section of public reading.

My responses to Gary were only with the intent of making him aware of a different view that many of the Kosciusko County residents have in common, as well as getting the citizens more involved in whom we vote into office.

For the individual whom sent the letter, I understand your frustration - no amount of school can educate a person on compassion of another living being or prepare someone of the struggles of supporting a family. However, a personal attack on someone whom values the idea of freedom but ignores ethics will not open his mind to other ideas with attacks such as the one you sent. Gary is not to be faulted by his convictions he inquired during his college career.

Mr. Eppenbaugh does not have to agree, I am sure he is not alone. Let's not forget Gary is a voting citizen and I would like him to look at all qualities it takes for the right people to run our county. If someone is unaware, educate them don't attack them.

In closing, kudos to you, Gary, for your completion of your education as well as doing what you have to in order to not ask for government handouts.
