Nearly 90 nonprofit leaders from 45 organizations in the community and from across northern Indiana recently attended a nonprofit workshop on Mastering Donor & Board Engagement.
The event was hosted by the Kosciusko County Community Foundation and supported by the Community Foundation of Elkhart County, K21 Health Foundation and Orange Marketing Group, according to a news release from the Community Foundation.
During the nonprofit workshop, leadership from the Community Foundation of Elkhart County provided actionable insights on strategies that elevate fundraising, strengthen board relationships, amplify storytelling and cultivate transformational board leadership. Speakers at the event included Pete McCown, president; Carrie Berghoff, chief development officer; Brian Cook, chief marketing and communications officer; Marshall King, director of communications; and Kevin Deary, chief professional and organizational development officer.
“As a part of our mission, the Kosciusko County Community Foundation seeks to build nonprofit capacity through meaningful learning and training opportunities,” said Alex Hall, vice president of programs at the Community Foundation. “We are thankful for the Community Foundation of Elkhart County’s partnership and expertise in lifting up the nonprofit leaders in and around Kosciusko County so that they can continue to deepen their impact on our communities.”
One board member of a local organization in attendance reflected that, “This learning opportunity is what I was waiting for.” Another attendee shared that, “We are very thankful for all the information and encouragement from the Community Foundation.”
Organizations attending the workshop were entered into a random drawing and surprised with a $500 grant for operating support at the conclusion of the event. The two recipients were Hope’s Harbor and the Community Arts Program of Kosciusko County.
