ELKHART COUNTY - A Nappanee man was killed and his passenger was injured in a three-vehicle collision Thursday in Elkhart County.
According to an Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office crash news release, at about 2:55 p.m. Thursday on U.S. 20 westbound lanes, east of CR 13 in Elkhart County, a 2017 Volvo semi truck and trailer, driven by Nenad Stankovic, 60, of Chicago, Ill., rear-ended a 2004 Jeep Liberty, driven by Jerry Lamb, 64, of Nappanee, pushing the Jeep into the rear of a 2024 Ford F550, driven by David Wesley Pilditch, 47, of New Haven.
Lamb was pronounced dead on the scene.
A passenger in Lamb’s Jeep, Glenn Freel, 54, of Nappanee, suffered cuts to the back of his head and was taken by ambulance to South Bend Memorial Hospital.
The release states that everyone was wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.
The semi truck and trailer sustained moderate front-end damage. The Jeep sustained heavy front- and rear-end damage, while the F550 sustained heavy rear-end damage.
The collision remains under investigation.
