PIERCETON – Nancy Pitts, 87, of Sidney, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 26, 2012, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw. She was born Sept. 10, 1925, in Lancer, Ky., to Willie and Annie Strickland Burchett. On Aug. 7, 1944, in Prestonsburg, Ky., she married Mexico Pitts, who died in 2003. She was a Sidney resident since 1953. She didn’t have children of her own but she raised her husband’s niece and grand-niece. In addition, she “took care” of many of the children in Sidney as they were growing up. She was preceded in death by five sisters: Hazel, Edith, Thelma, Josephine and Edna Mae; and a brother, James Lee. No services are planned and burial will be private.
