Name Of Woman Killed In Wednesday Fatal ReleasedA Mishawaka woman was killed in the U.S. 30 crash on Wednesday.
A Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office news release identified the accident victim as Kathy Harmon, 47, of Mishawaka.
The crash occurred at 12:34 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. 30, east of CR 500W, in Prairie Township.
The preliminary investigative results indicate that Harmon was traveling east on U.S. 30 behind a semi tractor-trailer prior to the collision, the release states. A westbound tractor-trailer crossed the center line and hit the trailer in front of Harmon, glancing off and striking Harmon’s 2011 Toyota Yaris head-on in the median.
Harmon was entrapped within her vehicle and she was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Kosciusko County coroner.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, according to the release.
U.S. 30 is under construction and both eastbound and westbound traffic was using the westbound lanes of U.S. 30, the release states. The eastbound lanes are shut down.
Responding agencies included the KCSO, Indiana State Police, Atwood Fire Department, Lutheran EMS, Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory, Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office and the Parkview Samaritan Air Ambulance, which was disregarded.
