ROCHESTER - Myron Everette Alderfer, 87, of 2321 Waterview Drive, Rochester, died at 4:20 p.m. July 15, 2010, in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.

He was born Sept. 13, 1922, in Richland Center, to Carl and Ruth Ault Alderfer. On June 6, 1943, in Rochester, he married Kathryn L. "Kate" Knight, who preceded him in death.

He was a 1940 graduate of Richland Center High School. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

As a master mechanic, he worked Louderback's and Shepherd's Chevrolet, Buick and Cadillac. A ham radio operator, he was known as WB9RLE. He was a member of the Saltminers and Moonlighters radio clubs. He was a member of Rochester Church of the Nazarene and the LeRoy Shelton American Legion Post.

Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn K. Bailey (and companion Gary Gagnon Sr.), Akron, and Diana S. Van Norstron, Vevay; a son, Randy M. Alderfer, Rochester; three sisters, Ruby (and spouse Earl) Thompson and Mary Bruce, all of Mentone, and Phyllis (and spouse Richard) Grimes, LaPorte; three brothers: Merle Alderfer, Laketon; Wayne (and spouse Lavina) Alderfer, Cromwell; and Howard (and spouse Alverta) Alderfer, Chapman Lake; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, a sister, and four brothers.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Don Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Richland Center Cemetery, northwest of Rochester, with military graveside rites by members of LeRoy Shelton American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Rochester.

Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
