Moving Pictures Tattoo Cinema, 119 W. Center St., suite B, Warsaw, celebrated its new location Thursday with a ribbon-cutting with the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce.
Owner Nathan Underneath said he started the build out at the current location in October and moved over the Christmas and New Years holidays and opened Jan. 6.
He moved from 112 E. Center St., Warsaw, after his previous location was sold to new owners and they had different plans for the building and didn’t renew his lease. Instead of moving out of downtown Warsaw, Underneath said he wanted to do a more exclusive, higher-end studio.
Underneath was an engineer and a gallery studio painter. He ended up working for an artist that taught him how to tattoo and eventually, Underneath left the corporate world to pursue it full time. He’s now in his seventh year of having his own tattoo studio.
Moving Pictures is a custom-only tattoo shop, which also offers piercings. Underneath said he specializes in bold color surrealism and large-scale projects like full arm tattoos. Cover-ups is one of Underneath’s specialities and takes up about 70% of his business.
Being a private studio, his clients come from all over and stay at hotels and Airbnbs in the area and eat at area restaurants, he said.
When asked what he thinks his tattoo studio brings to the area. Underneath said his mantra is Serve, Uplift, Inspire. Moving Pictures tries to sponsor a different nonprofit every month and serve the community that way.
