Mother & Daughter Among 3 Killed In 2-Vehicle CrashThree people – including a mother and daughter – were killed in a two-vehicle accident on Old 30, east of Ind. 13, in Washington Township Thursday afternoon.

Two of the deceased were identified as Teressa Johnson, 66, of Warsaw, and Amanda Johnson, 43, Warsaw. Teressa Johnson was the driver of a 2016 Kia Sportage involved in the collision and Amanda Johnson, her daughter, was her passenger.

The third person was the driver of the 2014 Nissan Maxima involved in the collision and was not identified as of Thursday night.

The accident occurred at about 3:39 p.m. Thursday.

According to the narrative provided by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office Thursday night, emergency crews were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision on Old 30, east of Ind. 13. KCSO deputies arrived within minutes of the initial call and discovered the Maxima fully engulfed in flames and two unresponsive women inside the Sportage.

The preliminary results of the investigation indicate that the eastbound Maxima was passing an eastbound motorcycle and collided head-on with the Sportage in the westbound lane. The collision caused significant front-end damage to both vehicles, entrapping all occupants. According to witnesses at the scene, the Maxima was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash.

The KCSO Fatal Team responded and thoroughly processed the scene using laser scanner and drone technology, the release states.

Teressa and Amanda were pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.

Along with the KCSO, responding agencies included the North Webster Police Department, Pierceton Police Department, Winona Lake Police Department, North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Fire Department, Pierceton Fire Department, Lutheran EMS and the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office.
