SYRACUSE – Monica May “Monk” Jernigan, 49, of Syracuse, died June 5, 2011, in IU Health Goshen Hospital. She was born Dec. 17, 1961, in Columbia City, to E. Wayne and Diana Leap Jernigan. She resided in Plymouth for 20 years prior to moving to the Syracuse area, where she lived for the past two years. Surviving are her father, E. Wayne Jernigan, North Webster; two sisters, Stephanie (and spouse Jeff) Surfus, Dexter, Mich., and Joseanna (and spouse Don) Nyce, Syracuse; and her grandmother, Virgie Jernigan, North Webster. She was preceded in death by her mother. A graveside service will be at 5 p.m. Friday at North Webster Cemetery – Mock Addition. Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse, is in charge of arrangements.
