MUNCIE – Mona L. Rhoades, 57, of Muncie, died July 11, 2011, in IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 4, 1954, in Portland, Ind., to Carl and Betty Norris Woodard.
She grew up in Muncie and attended Muncie City Schools and IUPUI, Fort Wayne. She moved to Warsaw where she worked in group homes before moving back to Muncie, where she continued her work in group homes. She also worked for the Census Bureau. In recent years she lived in Maryland. Upon her return she lived at The Woodlands Nursing Home and Muncie Health and Rehabilitation. She was affiliated with Tabernacle of Praise Church.
Surviving are five children: Mindy (and spouse Chadd) Warmoth and Jennifer Hansen, both of Anderson; Marcella (and spouse David) Earl, California, Md.; Aaron and Ryan Rhoades, both of Muncie; two sisters, Carla Gick and Sherry Woodard, both of Muncie; and 15 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter and infant twin sons.
Services will be 6 p.m. Friday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, Muncie, with Pastor John Tyner officiating. Cremation will follow the services with inurnment in the new serenity addition of the mausoleum at Elm Ridge Memorial Park at a later date.
