A homeless woman from Missouri is in the Kosciusko County Jail after allegedly crashing her vehicle into the posts at Walmart while intoxicated then spitting in first responders’ faces.

Samantha Shannon Brown, 38, listed as homeless from Missouri, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 10:35 p.m. Thursday and faces two charges for battery by bodily waste, Level 6 felonies; resisting law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor; and operating while intoxicated, a Class A misdemeanor.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Nov. 23 in Kosciusko Superior Court III, on May 21 Warsaw police were dispatched to Walmart for a report of a vehicle colliding with the concrete barriers there.

Upon arrival, officers saw the crashed vehicle with significant damage and Brown lying on the ground. Police spoke with a witness at the scene, who said she saw Brown hanging out the driver’s side door and helped Brown out after the crash.

Police smelled alcohol on Brown’s breath, according to the affidavit, and gave her a Breathalyzer test that came back at 0.201 BAC.

Brown had told police she was feeling pain from the accident, so an ambulance arrived and took her to Kosciusko Community Hospital.

There, according to court papers, Brown became agitated, disruptive and combative, and attempted to remove medical equipment.

As she was being restrained, according to the affidavit, Brown spit multiple times on the police officer and an ER nurse.

The blood draw at the hospital revealed her BAC was 0.25, according court papers.

Her bond was set at $20,250.
