ELKHART COUNTY - A Milford woman and an Elkhart man were killed Friday in a four-vehicle collision in Elkhart County.
According to a news release today from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 7:41 a.m. Friday ECSO deputies responded to a four-vehicle crash at the intersection of CRs 40 and 17.
The preliminary investigation indicates that an eastbound Toyota GR8, operated by Alismond Kid Saentavanh, 24, Wakarusa, disregarded the stop sign on CR 40 at CR 17. The Toyota GR8 collided with a Ford Explorer, operated by Steven Perez, 21, Elkhart, traveling southbound on CR 17, and a Ford Escape, driven by Donna Rae Gushwa, 69, Milford, traveling north on CR 17, the release states. The Ford Explorer then flipped and collided with a northbound Honda CR-V, driven by Susan D. Jacobs, 59, Elkhart.
Perez was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the Ford Explore, according to the release. All other drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
Saentavanh was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for complaints of pain and a possible broken collarbone.
Jacobs was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for a broken ankle, clavicle and knuckles.
Perez and Gushwa were pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash is still under investigation by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Team.
