MILFORD — Milford Public Library is inviting members of the community to show their pride in their hometown library with a new “Proud Patron” yard sign campaign.
The signs feature the Milford Public Library name and the words “Proud Patron,” along with an open book and patriotic design. Patrons who would like to participate may pick up a sign at the library’s upstairs service desk. A $10 suggested donation is requested to help cover the cost of producing the signs.
The campaign is part of Milford Public Library’s activities commemorating the 250th anniversary of America and celebrates the special relationship between the library and the community it has served for more than a century, according to a news release from the library.
“I love our library and the new signs are a welcoming and informative visual for everyone.” said Dee Kinney, vice president of the Milford Public Library Board of Trustees, who came up with the idea for the Proud Patron signs. “Through community participation and support, we can help our library continue to grow, serve local needs, and remain a valuable resource for all.”
Board President Mindy Brooks designed the signs. She stated, “These signs are a way for the Milford community to celebrate America's 250th year while also showing their support of our outstanding library.”
The campaign reflects the community’s continued investment in Milford Public Library, a historic Carnegie library that has been an important part of the community for over 100 years, the release states.
“The library staff and board are proud to serve the Milford community. As we celebrate our past, we also look forward to the future, which is why we are attending to maintenance of our building and grounds, building our collections, and planning engaging programs,” said Library Director Karl Stutzman. “I know Milford is very proud of its library as well, so this is an opportunity for our patrons to share their community spirit.”
Milford Public Library opened in 1919 and was remodeled and doubled in size in 1995 while preserving its historic character and charm. The library is open Monday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The library’s two-story building offers accessible parking and elevator access and numerous patron services. The upper level has adult and teen collections and a variety of other services such as computers, printing and faxing.
