NORTH WEBSTER - A Middlebury man was killed Thursday afternoon after his motorcycle hit the back of a stopped pickup truck.
The fatal injury crash occurred at the intersection of Ind. 13 and Backwater Road in Tippecanoe Township.
According to a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office press release, KCSO deputies, along with North Webster Police and emergency personnel, responded at 3:10 p.m. to a two-vehicle rear end collision at the intersection of Ind. 13 and Backwater Road. Emergency personnel arrived on scene and located a Harley Davidson Motorcycle and a Chevy 2500 pickup truck involved in the crash.
Preliminary investigation determined the Harley Davidson motorcycle was northbound on Ind. 13 and hit the rear of the Chevy 2500. The Chevy 2500 was stopped in traffic waiting to make a left turn, the release states.
Carlos Lundy, 66, Middlebury, was the driver of the Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Kosciusko County Coroner Tyler Huffer from injuries suffered in the crash.
Dylan Cassidy, 19, North Webster, was the driver of the Chevy 2500 pickup truck and was not injured in the crash.
Assisting the North Webster Police Department at the scene was the KCSO, Kosciusko County FACT, Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office, Indiana State Police, North Webster Fire & EMS and Raven’s Wrecker Service.
The accident remains under investigation by the North Webster Police Department and KCSO FACT.
