Michigan Couple Arrested After FightingA couple from Michigan were recently arrested after allegedly getting in a fight at an area hotel after a night of drinking.

Eric Dushawn Brown, 45, and Monica Lynn Collier, 36, both of Hudsonville, Mich., were booked in the Kosciusko County Jail shortly after 3 a.m. Feb. 7 and both face a Level 6 felony charge for domestic battery causing moderate bodily injury and a Class A misdemeanor domestic battery charge.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Thursday in Kosciusko Superior Court II, on Feb. 7 Warsaw and Winona Lake police responded to the Best Western hotel in reference to a domestic dispute.

Upon arrival at the door of the hotel room, officers reported hearing a man and woman arguing and the woman saying, “You punched me,” according to court papers.

When officers knocked on the door, Brown answered and said he and Collier had been drinking and she hit him in the face 20 times, according to the affidavit.

Police observed a small cut above Brown’s right eyebrow and a small amount of blood on his nose, according to court papers. Brown agreed to take a portable breath test, which registered at 0.168, according to the affidavit.

When police spoke with Collier, she had a cut on her forehead and a cut on her finger. She allegedly told police Brown threw his phone at her and hit her in the forehead, then hit her on the head again.

Collier then admitted to police she scratched Brown and broke his necklace, and that the two were wrestling and both hit each other several times, according to court papers.

A portable breath test administered to Collier came back at 0.201, according to the affidavit.

Collier’s bond was set at $6,000, and Brown’s bond was set at $5,250.
