SYRACUSE - Merl D. Laughlin, 83, of Syracuse, died at 4:43 a.m. Aug. 24, 2010, in Miller's Merry Manor, Syracuse.
He was born March 10, 1927, in Syracuse, to Merl and Wava Gordon Laughlin. On Dec. 31, 1949, in North Webster, he married Nadena M. Coy, who died March 15, 1990.
A lifetime Syracuse area resident, he attended Syracuse public schools and served in the U.S. Army. He formerly worked at Schult Homes, Elkhart, and Liberty Homes, Syracuse for 20 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 253, North Webster, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1342 and Eagles Lodge, both in Syracuse.
Surviving are a son, Glenn (and spouse Kellie) Laughlin, New Paris; a granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Syracuse Cemetery with Kevin Rhoades officiating and with military rites by members of American Legion Post 253.
Calling is from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse.
