MENTONE – The town of Mentone has handed information regarding Kline Trailer Court over to the county health department. Town attorney Andrew Grossnickle said he was able to speak to Bill Baxter, environmental scientist with the health department, and gave him pictures and narratives of former tenants who had concerns about the livability of the mobile park. Grossnickle said he gave him as “much information as I could give him.” Grossnickle said the health department would review the information. He said what the department can do is send the property owner an inspection notice of when an inspection of the property would take place. Grossnickle said he expects to hear back from the department after it sends an inspection notice. So instead of going through Grossnickle, the inspection process of the mobile homes will go through the health department. “I think that’s a good idea,” he said. Grossnickle said his hopes are that the conditions of the trailer court can be seen and a discussion can be started. The town council first heard complaints of the trailer court during its December meeting when Jeff McCoy, Rochester, spoke to the council about his experience living in one of the trailers for a month. The town council also received a letter regarding another resident’s complaints. That resident did not appear before the town council. Complaints included electrical issues, trash around the trailer court, parts of bathroom floors caving in and bug issues. At December’s meeting, council member Tim Croy said he spoke with property owner Bob Kline and was told to take all the complaints with a grain of salt since a lot of the residents owe Kline money.
