MENTONE – Mentone Town Council held a special meeting Monday to help finalize the Mentzer Memorial Park upgrade project.
Olivia Nix, community development planner with the Michiana Area Council of Governments, said the purpose of Monday’s meeting was to review and approve any of the outstanding payoffs for invoices for work done for the park upgrade. The meeting was also to release the retainage amount of 5% of the total project cost that was withheld from each invoice as a safeguard the work is complete satisfactorily.
There were three invoice payoffs that needed to be approved, which utilized money from the K21 Health Foundation grant and Community Development Block Grant Programs (CDBG) grant, Nix said.
The total CDBG funding approved to be paid was $50,572.84. The council also approved a $20,513.47 drawdown from K21 funds.
The council also approved releasing the 5% retainage amount, in the amount of $13,042.38 from the CDBG grant and $11,387.91 from the K21 grant.
The council also approved for Council President Jill Gross to sign five forms to close out the park project.
Some of the work that still needs to be done at the park includes hydroseeding, which will be done at a later date. Clerk-Treasurer Amanda Yaprak said the money used to pay for that will be used with ARPA funding or local funds, which was already allocated for the project.
