I am outraged at the mock outrage portrayed by the corporate media conglomerates at the outrageous AIG bonuses. While the media have been feeding us a daily diet of celebrity gossip, occasionally seasoned with misinformation, obfuscation and paranoia, the horse has left the barn and is galloping into the sunset.
Where were they the past six years as we went to war on faulty intelligence, Americans were spied on, war profiteers looted the treasury and $15 billion in shrink-wrapped currency disappeared into thin air?
Where have our media been for the past 30 years as deregulation allowed Wall Street greed and fraud to bring down the entire global economy? Where have they been as fair trade became free trade, eliminating millions of jobs and depressing wages in the process? Where have they been as Congress sold their seats and souls to corporate lobbyists in return for campaign contributions? Where have they been as wealth was redistributed from the middle and bottom incomes to the very top?
The media's newfound enthusiasm is too little, too late.
