GOSHEN – Maynard J. Kauffman, 71, passed away Jan. 4, 2013, at his residence. He was diagnosed with ALS in September 2012.
He was born Feb. 10, 1942, in Goshen to Milo and Katie Yoder Kauffman. On Jan. 6, 1962, in Emma, he married Joyce K. Eichelberger, who survives.
A lifetime area resident, he farmed and worked as a carpenter at Carriage for 13 years. He was a member of Clinton Frame Mennonite Church, and had attended Burket United Methodist Church while living in Warsaw.
Also surviving are two daughters, Tina R. (and spouse Thomas) Duncan, Fort Wayne, and Tonya D. Rutter, Goshen; three sons: Scott D. (and spouse Sally)  Kauffman, Bourbon, and Rick E. (and spouse Laura) Kauffman and Adam B. Kauffman, both of Goshen; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosetta (and spouse Joe) Koch, Spencerville; and a brother, Cheryle “Chuck” (and spouse Connie) Kauffman, Sarasota, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Anthony J. Kauffman.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Clinton Frame Mennonite Church with Pastor Terry Diener officiating. Burial will be in Clinton Union Cemetery, Goshen.
Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Friday at the church.
