NAPPANEE - Maxine E. Schwartz, 94, Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa, died at 9:50 p.m. Oct. 2, 2008, in her residence.

She was born Feb. 3, 1914, north of Nappanee, to Arthur and Maude Freed Hoffer. On Oct. 6, 1937, in Nappanee, she married Ervin J. Schwartz, who survives.

A lifetime area residents, she was a homemaker and a graduate of Wakarusa High School. She was a member of North Main Street Mennonite Church, where she was a member of the senior adult Sunday school class. She was a former Sunday school teacher and a member of Women's Missionary Service Commission.

Also surviving are two sons, Jerry (and spouse Pam) Schwartz, and Darrell (and spouse Cheryl) Schwartz, all of Wakarusa; a brother, Buell (and spouse Juanita) Hoffer, Nappanee; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at North Main Street Mennonite Church, with the Revs. Ruben Cupp and John King officiating. Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery.

Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and one hour prior to services Sunday at the church.
