Mary M. Kneeland, 92, of Atwood, died at 11:53 a.m. Jan. 31, 2010, in the emergency room at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
She was born July 25, 1917, at home in Atwood, to Justin Day and Cathern Wolf Irwin. On March 11, 1936, in Atwood, she married Warren R. Kneeland, who died Jan. 3, 1986.
A lifetime Atwood resident, she was a teacher, cook and secretary for Atwood School and was a 1935 graduate of Atwood High School. She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Atwood, where she taught Sunday school and was Sunday school superintendent. She was a member of the Home Ec Club, Atwood; was past matron and 50-year member of the Bourbon Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are a son, Justin (and spouse Maris) Kneeland, Dewey, Ill.; two daughters, Maureen (and spouse Michael) Pfeiffer, Rochester, and Cathy (and spouse Royce) Lenfestey, Warsaw; 10 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph M. Irwin, who died April 9, 1993, and Milton "Zeke" Irwin, who died Sept. 10, 2007.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Otterbein United Methodist Church, Atwood, officiated by Pastor Jerry Thomas of the church. Burial will be in Stony Point Cemetery, Atwood.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. There will be an Order of the Eastern Star service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
