RUSSIAVILLE — Mary L. Smith, 92, Kokomo, passed away at 4:45 a.m. Feb. 26, 2017, at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital. She was born Dec. 30, 1924, in Folsomville, to William Rome and Theota Leslie Perigo. On Dec. 24, 1943, she traveled to Lansing, Mich., during World War II to marry J.O. Smith. He passed away Aug. 11, 2008. She was a Folsomville High School graduate. She was a mother, a Proverbs 31 wife and an excellent seamstress. She, along with J.O., took an active role in church and community events in all communities they served. Survivors include one daughter, Rita K. (spouse Windell) Stevens, Kokomo; three sons: Monte D. (spouse Rita) Smith, Angola; Stanley B. (spouse Amrit) Smith, San Antonio, Texas; and Paul J. (spouse Kathy) Smith, Mims, Fla.; five grandchildren: Shelley Graft, Christy Millen, Sara Steinberg, Grant Smith and Claire Smith; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents, Rome and Theota Perigo; husband, J.O. Smith; a brother, Rome Homer Perigo; and a sister, Lucy Elizabeth Perigo Houghland. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Pastor Mark Deckinga officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. CST Sunday at Maple Grove Cemetery, Boonville. Friends may visit with the family from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. ***** Memorials to CAM.
