SYRACUSE – Mary L. Mappes, 99, Syracuse, passed away at 8:10 p.m. May 13, 2015, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse. She was born April 14, 1916, in Galena, Mo., to Cleo and Blanche McMichael Craig. In 1938, in Harrison, Ark., she married Robley W. “Bob” Evans, who died in 1979. In 1984, in Springfield, Mo., she married Theodore R. “Ted” Mappes, who died in 1994. She graduated from high school in Galena and attended William Woods College in Missouri. She was a homemaker and former co-owner/operator of Bob Evans Shoes in Poplar Bluff, Mo., for 18 years. She moved to the Syracuse area in 1995 from Kimberling City, Mo. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Missouri and she attended the United Methodist Church in North Webster. She enjoyed playing bridge. Surviving are a daughter, Evon Foyle, Syracuse; three grandchildren: Pamela (and spouse Dan) Kenninger, Barbara (and spouse Jeff) Croy and Allan Foyle; five great-grandchildren: Ella and Lauren Kenninger; Samantha Croy; and Zander and Spencer Foyle; and a former son-in-law, Leonard Foyle. She also was preceded in death by her parents. Services wil be at 11 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, 7822 Epworth Forest Road, North Webster, with Pastor Bob Dailey of the church officiating.
