GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. — Mary Alice Steele, 83 of Grand Rapids, formerly of Mansfield, Ohio, and Warsaw, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017, at her daughter’s home, where she had resided since moving to Grand Rapids in 2009.
Mary Alice was born March 19, 1934, in Jewel Ridge, Va., to Ellis R. and Edna T. Jackson Rasnake. She was united in marriage to Kyle William Steele on May 5, 1956, in Bucyrus, Ohio.
She was a member of the Lexington (Ohio) Grace Brethren Church, which she attended for many years before moving to Warsaw in 1994.
She will be fondly remembered by her many friends and relatives for the love of her vegetable and flower gardens and sharing of her favorite recipes. Mary Alice also touched many people with her generosity and sharing of her beautiful handmade dishrags, towels, baby sweaters, booties, hats and blankets.
Mary Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Anna Lou Carr and brother Douglas Rasnake.
She will be lovingly missed by her two children, Trudy (Darrell) Hasbargen, Grand Rapids, and Philip (Julie) Steele, Warsaw; seven grandchildren: Jonathan (Kaitlynn) Steele, Mankato, Minn.; Hannah (Shane) Daniels, Deer River, Minn.; Jacob Steele, Warsaw; and Kenn Hasbargen and Molly Hasbargen, both of Grand Rapids.
She is survived by sisters Othell McMicheal and Lottie (Paul) LaRue and brothers Wayne (Elna) Rasnake and Randall Rasnake.
Visitation will be from 10 am. until the funeral service at 11 am. Wednesday, June 21, at Evangelical Free Church, Grand Rapids.
