NAPPANEE – Martha Miller, age 79, of Nappanee, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 9:11 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021, at her residence after a seven-week battle with cancer.
She was born Nov. 19, 1941, in Goshen, to Daniel M. and Iona Helmuth Kuhns. Mrs. Miller lived her lifetime in the Nappanee area. On Sept. 13, 1962, she married Wayne W. Miller in Nappanee. Martha was a housewife and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Surviving is her husband, Wayne; children: Devon W. (Barbara) Miller, Kristine (Mark) Hochstetler, Karen (Carl) Chupp, all of Nappanee; 24 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers: Alvin (Donna) Kuhns, Cottonwood, Ariz.; Otis Kuhns, Milford; Lotus (Loretta) Kuhns, Goshen; sisters: Betty (Amos) Borkholder, New Paris; Katie Harshberger, Ruby (Junior) Fry, both of Nappanee; brother-in-law, Alvin (Mary) Hershberger, Nappanee; stepbrothers: Marvin (Mary) Borkholder, Kenny Borkholder, Leroy (Clara) Borkholder, all of Burr Oak, Mich.; stepsisters: Martha Schwartz, Burr Oak, Mich.; Alice (Melvin) Fry, Topeka, Ind.; Mary (Herbert) Miller, Wakarusa; and Ruby (Delbert) Slabaugh, Shipshewana.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Harvey Borkholder; brother, Raymond Kuhns; and sisters: Sadie Miller, Esther Hershberger, Mary Jane Kuhns; and stepsister, Katherine Borkholder.
Family and friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27 and all day Saturday, Aug. 28 at the Devon Miller residence, 8879 N. CR 900W, Nappanee. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, also at the Devon Miller residence. Home Ministry of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate and burial will be in Graber Cemetery.
