ROCHESTER - Margaret O. Bair, 91, of 1729 Wabash Ave., Rochester, died at 7:35 p.m. June 7, 2009, in her residence, where she resided the past two months. She was formerly of 107 E. Mary Mac Drive, Warsaw.
She was born Aug. 22, 1917, in Fort Wayne, to Hugh and Elizabeth Mouser Murphy. On June 14, 1941, in Seymore, she married James R. Bair, who survives.
As an educator, she was keenly interested in children and the process of education. She pursued her teaching degree at Ball State Teacher's College and graduated in 1939. She embarked on her teaching career with Fort Wayne Community Schools, teaching young learners with special needs. Later she accpeted an assignment at Warsaw Community Schools that spanned more than 2-1/2 decades. She focused on and enjoyed the aspects of early childhood education, teaching her first grade students for 25 years, then retiring. She was a member of Warsaw Evanglical Presbyterian Church, Indiana Retired Teacher's Association and the CLIO Literacy Soceity. To relax she enjoyed reading a good book.
Also surviving are two sons, Tom (and spouse Sue) Bair, Rochester, and Steven R. Bair, Cumming, Ga.; and four grandchildren: Chris Bair (and fiance Kerri Skowron) Orlando, Fla.; Matt Bair, Rochester; Jill (and spouse Steve) Longfellow, Estero, Fla.; and Tessa Bair, Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marie Kiess; and a brother, Dr. Kenneth Murphy.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester, with Junior Bose officiating.
