Manchester Council Holds Hearing On Trash Fees

Posted
NORTH MANCHESTER - At Wednesday night’s regular meeting, the town council held a public hearing for trash fee increases and heard an update on street closures and water tower maintenance.

In new business, General Ordinance 1 and 2 were discussed. There was no public input for trash fee increases, ordinance 1 or for ordinance 2.

Starting next week, phase two of the Community Crossings grant project begins. As of Monday,  road construction will start at the corner of Wayne Street and College Avenue and Wayne Street will be closed by midweek. There will be no north/south traffic for several weeks on Wayne, said Town Manager Adam Penrod.

Penrod also reported that the town water department will drain the north tower next week, pressure wash the outside and repaint the inside. This maintenance should not impact the water pressure for town residents, as the south tower will remain functional.

Town Marshal Jim Kirk announced three new reserve officers have joined the police department. Two of the previous reserve officers have moved on to take full-time positions in Huntington and Gas City.

Penrod presented the Parkview EMS update, reporting the units are “almost fully staffed” and crews have had “lots of training” recently.

Clerk-Treasurer Carrie Mugford reported a town docket of $507,171.05 and a utilities docket of $172,401.97.

The council will next meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 2.
