Man Who Drove Car Into Lake Shoots Self During Ohio Police StandoffThe Cincinnati man who ran his car into Carr Lake Wednesday shot and killed himself during a standoff with police in Ohio Friday.

Raphael Antwaun Dell, 22, of Cincinnati, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 2:44 p.m. Wednesday for possession of marijuana after he ran his car into Carr Lake for an unknown reason.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office responded and took Dell into custody as he was walking away from the vehicle, according to KCSO Public Information Officer Sgt. Chris Francis. Dell’s bond was set at $600.

According to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, at 5:06 p.m. Friday deputies spotted Dell on the side of U.S. 33 in Celina, Ohio, putting gas into his car on the side of the road. When an officer approached, according to police, Dell got back into his car and shot himself in the head.

According to reports from WOWO radio, Dell was a suspect in a burglary/robbery in Fort Wayne that occurred on Friday in which a victim was shot, as well as a robbery in Van Wert County in which someone trying to prevent him from escaping by dragged by his car as he fled.

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
