Man Claims He Found Dead Bodies, Winds Up Under ArrestA Warsaw man was arrested recently after yelling about finding dead bodies and then allegedly threatening police.

Justin Riley West, 27, of 618 Oldfather St., Warsaw, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 7:53 p.m. Jan. 15 for intimidation and possession of marijuana/hash oil/hashish. His preliminary bond was set at $600.

Court documents filed Tuesday list the charges against him as intimidation on a law enforcement officer, a level 6 felony; and possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor.

Warsaw Police officer Justin Lewis responded to a complaint of a man yelling that he found four dead bodies.

When he arrived, Lewis saw the man – later identified as West – with a stick in his hand. West claimed to be torturing four dead bodies and the only way to get him to stop was to shoot him. West told Lewis that he wasn’t going to prison for life and he would kill the officer if he tried to take him into custody.

While officers were preparing to take West into custody, he said he was going to stab them if they came any closer. WPD Cpl. Phil Hawkes used his Taser and the officers were able to take West into custody.

In West’s front pants pocket, officers found a bag containing marijuana totaling 3.8 grams.

His initial hearing was set for 1 p.m. Feb. 1 in Kosciusko County Superior Court II.
