Man Arrested After Allegedly Shooting HouseA North Webster man was arrested for criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon after firing his gun inside his residence.

Joseph J. Davis, 58, of 160 EMS W23 Lane, North Webster, is charged with criminal recklessness while armed with a deadly weapon, a Level 6 felony.

He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 1:09 p.m. Wednesday on a $5,250 preliminary bond.

According to the probable cause affidavit, at about 4 a.m. Monday, Kosciusko?Central Dispatch was contacted by Davis who said there were six people that had a firearm on top of one of his neighbor’s residence. He said someone had run over his wife’s swing and a log cutter. Officers responded and determined that incident didn’t happen.

At about 6:45 a.m., dispatch received a 911 call from someone. A North Webster police officer arrived at 6:56 a.m. and saw Davis laying across the road outside his house in the grass pointing a firearm at his residence. The officer asked Davis to put the gun down and Davis complied. The gun was an semi-automatic handgun that had one loaded round in the chamber and an empty magazine inserted.

A Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrived and Davis said he fired his gun inside his residence after his wife left. He said he saw a man in the hallway and that man pointed a firearm at Davis. Davis said he shot seven or eight times and handed the deputy two shell casings.

The deputy asked Davis if he was on any medication and Davis said he was, according to court documents. While officers were in the residence, Davis continued to look around like there were people there.

The deputy went upstairs and located holes in the wall going into the bathroom. The deputy also located holes coming from outside the residence into the front door.
