MILFORD – A man was airlifted to a hospital after fire crews responded to Maple Leaf Feed Mill, 2764 E. CR 1300N, Milford, for a work-related rescue.
According to Milford Fire Department Assistant Chief Todd Haines, MFD received the call at 8:46 a.m. Wednesday to the feed mill. A grain bin was empty and a man was sweeping up what was left when he stepped into an auger at one of the bins. His leg was caught up to the groin area, Haines said.
The man was conscious when fire crews were on scene and he was airlifted to a hospital, but was in critical condition.
Assisting agencies included Syracuse, Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory, Goshen, Elkhart and Clay Township fire departments.
They left the scene at 11:48 p.m. Wednesday.
