A Warsaw man is in jail, accused of trashing another man’s house. Eric Joseph Watkins, 25, of 1824 Michaels St., Warsaw, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 2:43 p.m. Wednesday and faces a Class B misdemeanor criminal mischief charge. According to police reports, on Oct. 29 Kosciusko County Sheriff deputies responded to a house in reference to a criminal mischief report. Upon arrival, police spoke with a man who said Watkins was angry with him because Watkins believed the man had slept with Watkins’ girlfriend while he was incarcerated. The man told police that Watkins had showed up at their grandmother’s house trying to fight him and then threatened that he was going to do something, according to the police report. When police went inside the home, they observed the floor of the residence was covered in laundry detergent and a piano flipped over in the living room. Police also reportedly found a knife stuck in a family photograph of the man and a written-out statement on the countertop with the laundry detergent that said “UR F****** DEAD P**** B****.” The man also told police a safe containing photographs was missing from the residence. When police spoke with Watkins, according to the report, Watkins said he did set off fire extinguishers inside the house and stuck the knife in the photograph, but that the rest of the damage was pre-existing. Watkins’ bond was set at $500.
