Mad Anthony’s Lake City Tap House Closing A Week For RemodelingWhen Mad Anthony’s Lake City Tap House, 113 E. Center St., Warsaw, reopens after remodeling, it will not only have a new interior look, but also will feature 20 beer taps, up from 12.

The restaurant will be closed for renovations beginning Sunday, according to General Manager Jim Thompson, who has been at the Warsaw business for 11 years.

“We’re replacing the tabletops, all the booths, the whole bar is going to be redone back here. Paint. Carpet. Lighting,” he said.

Taps will be added to the bar and the tap system will be moved. Customers will still be able to get all the drinks they’re used to getting, but there’s going to be a better beer selection. The space behind the bar also will get a facelift.

If all goes well, Mad Anthony’s should only be closed for about a week. Thompson said they should be reopened some time after Friday, Feb. 10.

“It’ll look a lot different than it does,” he said.

The remodeling was in the works pre-COVID, but the pandemic delayed the plans. The main Mad Anthony Brewing Company location in Fort Wayne was remodeled before COVID, with the Auburn location renovated in 2022.

“They’re finally getting around to (Warsaw) now,” he said.

Notice of the forthcoming remodeling was posted on Mad Anthony’s Facebook page, Thompson said, and a sign will be posted this weekend.

Some of the lighting fixtures have already been changed out, and there have been other little touch-ups here and there. The windows on the west side of the restaurant are being replaced. Thompson said the windows up there now are probably as old as the building, which was formerly the Eagles building and Senger’s department store.

“It’s just time for a change. We’ve been here 16 years I think, now. Since 2006. They did a mild touch-up probably six or seven years ago maybe - carpet, paint,” Thompson said.

The banquet room’s facelift will include carpet, paint, more lighting and a new audiovisual system.

“Our audiovisual system right now is an Epson projector with a pull-up screen. They’re putting two 84-inch TVs in there with hookups for AV, so it will be a lot more meeting friendly,” Thompson said.

All the remodeling will be interior. A couple years ago, he said they got a new awning with the help of a facade grant from?Main Street Warsaw.
