AKRON - Lynn M. Leffert, 62, of 619 W. Center St., Warsaw, and formerly of Argos, died at 4:20 a.m. Aug. 24, 2007, at the Veterans Administration Northern Indiana Health Care System, Fort Wayne.

He was born Sept. 3, 1944, in Fulton County, to Leon M. and Jeanette M. McGriff Leffert. He married Cheri Davis in Argos.

He was a cattle and grain farmer in Marshall County. A 1962 graduate of Argos High School, he was awarded the FFA Star Farmer Award in 1962. He was a past Marshall County Fair Board and Fair Council member. He was a U.S. Army Spec E5 Engineer Vietnam veteran, and was a lifetime member of both the American Legion post in Argos and the Veteran of Foreign Wars post in Plymouth. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the American Hereford Cattle Association. His family raised cattle for show for many years, and he showed cattle at many different levels. He loved to keep track of all his family and their achievements.

Surviving are the mother of his four children, Cheri Riese, Elkhart; a daughter, Leslie Leffert, Elkhart; three sons: Lee M. (and wife Carol) Leffert, Culver; Christopher L. Leffert, stationed with the Navy in Hawaii; and Nicholas A. Leffert, stationed with the Army in Alaska; three grandchildren: Dean Michael Leffert, Trevor Leffert and Katie Leffert. He was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Leffert, who died Nov. 29, 1999.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos, with military graveside rites by the American Legion and VFW.
