Lt. Gov. Crouch Surprises Disbro With Sagamore Of The WabashNORTH WEBSTER - Twice in less than a year, local photographer, historian and former longtime Lake City Bank employee Al Disbro has been surprised with a state award from Indiana Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch.
On July 2, 2021, she presented Disbro with The Circle of Corydon from Indiana Gov. Eric J. Holcomb at First Friday. The award honors a person who has made remarkable contributions to the state and its people and was established by Holcomb in 2017.
Then Thursday night at the Kosciusko County Republican Party Lincoln Day Dinner, Crouch surprised Disbro with the Sagamore of the Wabash from Holcomb. The Sagamore of the Wabash is one of Indiana’s highest honors.
In presenting Disbro with the Sagamore Thursday night, Crouch said, “Al Disbro is the kind of person that is really special. He’s so special that Sen. Ryan Mishler honored him with the distinguished Hoosier award just the summer before this. But he is so special, that Gov. Holcomb is awarding him the Sagamore of the Wabash.”
Disbro was completely surprised, and then surprised again when his family came out of hiding to be with him for the award.
Disbro received a standing ovation from the crowded room of people attending the annual dinner.
