Louis Wright SweeneyLouis Wright Sweeney died June 5, 2011, in Warsaw Meadows Health Care.
He was born in Mount Bethel, Pa., to Harry and Helen Kelley Sweeney. In 1953, he married Mary Morris, who died in 1975. On April 25, 1987, he married Dorothy Hogan, who survives.
He graduated from Clarkson University in mechanical engineering. He was a member of Sacred Hearth Catholic Church, 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, American Legion Post 49 and the Brotherhood of Elks 802. He served with the 87 Infantry Division, U.S. Army from 1944-46 in the European Theater.
Also surviving are a brother, James Vincent (and spouse Mary) Sweeney; four daughters: Joann (and Larry Zeisner), Chester, Conn.; Lois Sweeney, Wallingford, Conn.; Judith (and spouse Mike) Sokoloff, Cheshire, Conn.; and Kathleen (and spouse Arthur) Kramer, Southington, Conn.; a son, Mark (and spouse Kathleen) Sweeney; a stepdaughter, Sheila (and spouse James) Scovic; a stepson, Jerry (and spouse Sally) Hogan; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Joseph; a sister, Catherine; a stepdaughter, Marjorie Hogan Davis; a stepson, Chuck Hogan, and his wife JoEllen; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in St. Bridget’s Catholic Cemetery, Cheshire.
Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m.
