BOURBON - Loretta S. "Shorty" Land Vigar peacefully entered into her eternal rest at 2:29 p.m. July 1, 2008, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. She was in failing health.
She was born Aug. 16, 1935, in Indianapolis, to Joseph and Beulah Boone Land. On Aug. 16, 1969, she married Harleyglen Vigar, who survives.
She was a homemaker and loved to work crossword puzzles, knit, play Yatzee and Rummy. She loved anything involving contesting. She was also very active in the Silver Dollars Saddle Club when it was active. She was a faithful member of Full Gospel House of Prayer, Tippecanoe.
Also surviving are seven children: Maria (and spouse Wilbur) Yoder, Topeka; LuAnn (and spouse Melvin) Davis, Carrollton, Ky.; Terie Ramirez (and friend Mike Lackovic), Warsaw; Angie Chapman, Stuttgart, Ark.; Susan (and spouse Larry) Ingram, Taylor, S.C.; Tina Orman, San Diego, Calif.; and Glen (and spouse Kim) Vigar, Logansport; 23 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Louise Thompson, and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon, with Pastor Don Chadwick officiating. Burial will be in Tippecanoe Cemetery.
