Just a few days ago, my wife and I were driving around Palestine Lake. We were on the south side of the lake when a dog came out of a yard and we had to swerve to miss it. Luckily, we were going slow. After that, we noticed a lot of dogs running loose.
I'm a dog owner myself. I never let my dogs out without being tied up, on a leash or in a fenced-in area.
Now, what in the heck are these people thinking over there? Are they that naive? To think that there dog knows to look both ways before crossing the road. Apparently they are.
I love my dogs like they are my children. I treat them like they are 2 to 3 year olds. You can't leave them unattended. They will walk off and either get hit, stolen, mauled by other dogs or worse, they hurt a child. Then what happens, they kill the dog. When in fact it should have been the owner.
Why do I say this? Because it was the dog owner's fault in the first place, not the dogs. Plus, there is always another option instead of killing the dog or the owner. They could lock the dog up and only let it out to play in the house, tied out on a chain or put in a fenced-in area. Killing someone's dog should be the last option, not the first.
So I guess what I'm wandering is, is there an ordinance for dogs in effect for Palestine Lake? If so, why the heck isn't it enforced? And if not, why? Is Palestine Lake area special or something?
