Lois C. Detwiler, 89, of Monroe, Wis., died April 10, 2012, in Harbor House, Monroe.
She was born Aug. 24, 1922, in Albany, Ore., to Harley and Katie Widmer Burck. On June 10, 1945, in Peoria, Ill., she married John S. Detwiler. She later married Harold Huntington on Sept. 7, 2002, in Monroe, Wis. Both preceded her in death.
She graduated from Albany High School, Rock Island School of Practical Nursing in Illinois and attended Goshen College. She worked in home and hospital nursing, and as an industrial nurse for R.R. Donnelley & Sons, Warsaw. She was active in church work, Bible studies, Home Extension and Women’s Club. Her hobbies included quilting, gardening, sports, board games and pie-making.
Surviving are her sons, John (and spouse Lisa), Escondido, Calif., and Tim (and spouse Rae Jean), Sycamore, Ill.; Lou (and spouse Kathryn), Austin, Texas; and Jerry (and spouse Diana), Florence, Ky.; daughters, Rena (and spouse Dave) Koning, Monroe; Willa (and spouse Mike) Nuppnau, Valparaiso; and Wilma (and spouse Ken) Willard, Chesterton; sisters, Grace Anderson, Albany, Ore., and Evelyn (and spouse Lloyd) Fisher, Glendale, Ariz.; 20 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren with two on the way. She also was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters. A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. (EST) Saturday at College Mennonite Church, 1900 S. Main St., Goshen, with the Rev. Harlan Steffen officiating. Burial will be in Elkhart Prairie Cemetery near Goshen.
