Posted

The Parkinson’s Support Group will host a guest speaker on Friday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., featuring Buzz Kauffman, a local 66-year-old member of the Parkinson’s community who is currently participating in an innovative clinical trial through Northwestern.
The event will at the Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital administration classroom, 2101 E. DuBois Drive, Warsaw.
The presentation will highlight his personal journey through the EXPDITE Trial, a research initiative exploring new treatment approaches for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease.
Attendees will gain insight into the clinical trial application and acceptance process, pre-surgical preparation and expectations, a firsthand account of the surgical experience and recovery, post-surgery timelines and ongoing care and considerations for others exploring participation in clinical research.
This event offers a rare opportunity to hear directly from a participant involved in Parkinson’s research and to better understand what clinical trial participation may look like from a patient perspective.
The event is free and open to individuals living with Parkinson’s, caregivers and community members interested in learning more about emerging treatment options. Light refreshments will be provided.
