Local Law Enforcement Teams Up For National Drug Take Back Day

Posted
Local area law enforcement are teaming up with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the 525 Foundation for the National Drug Take Back Day Saturday.

A prescription drug take back will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office. It will be a minimal contact drive-thru drop-off spot where drivers will enter the parking lot from the Main Street side and exit onto Fort Wayne Street, Claypool Town Marshal Ben Sanders said.

The drop-off is for any unwanted or old prescription medication, but syringe, aerosol, pressurized cartridges or illegal drugs will not be accepted. Misusing leftover prescription medication in cabinets can lead to an addiction, Sanders said. People can get a free at-home drug deactivation pouch just for stopping by and dropping of unused or expired prescription medication. Results of the take back day will be released by Sanders Monday.
